Memorial Day

Well Monday was a success!
So happy.
I was worried that there wouldn't be enough food.
There was plenty.  -Thanks to all who brought food.
Luda counted....60 people showed up.  wow.
An hour before the party started
Migraine hit.
(The kind where your vision goes out and your left arm goes numb, followed by pain)
Yeah so not cool.
But, I was able to have fun.  Thankfully.
(Lots of pain meds and prayers)
I loved seeing everyone.
Nothing makes me more happy then when all my friends come together.

I wish I had more pictures. Oh well.

Protected

Today I'm especially grateful for the Lords protection over my family.
The outcome of yesterday's events could have turned out very differently.
Thankfully it didn't.
Everyone is ok.
Life can change in a blink of an eye.
Remember to start off your day with prayer And ask for the Lords protection. We may never know when we need it.
I am glad my brother and his friends are ok.
 Angels were watching over them.

Closing Time

It's emails like this that scare me.
I went on fast-grad to graduate faster, to get out of here.
But it's becoming all too real now.
I just can't believe that I am almost done with college.
I don't want to leave.
I hate the weather here. (I want to live somewhere tropical for the next 10 years.)
But the atmosphere here is amazing.
I will be leaving behind the life I have lived for the past 3 years.
I will be leaving behind great friends.
I will be leaving behind a safe-place.
Going to the real-world.
 It's exciting yet...sad, scary, bitersweet.

Fans & Fire

Well the past few days have been eventful in a weird sort of way.
Thursday I was on campus when I heard there was a fire at my complex.
2nd time in the past month.
I came home to bright orange restoration trucks.
Crews came to our apt 2 floors down.
We had water damage and the manager said we would have to move out.
What?!
Good thing we didn't.
We just have to have loud fans in our apt.
We have blue tape reminders on our doors to keep them shut.
The living room and kitchen are super hot and we just stay in our rooms.
The crews came back and cut sections out of our walls.
We also got plastic strip to our apt aka the red carpet.
It has been an adventure.
The fans stay til at least Monday.

Update: It's Wednesday and the fans are still here.  We found out it makes our bread go moldy faster, melts chocolate chips, nothing is safe.  Can't wait til they are dont and our apt is back to a normal temp.

Big Picture

You know what is really hard? Seeing the big picture.
What does God have planned for me?
I thought I had things planned out. good things.
Things I would have been great at.
But they didn't happen.
Why?
Trusting is a difficult attribute to learn.
So here's to that someday...
Where I will eventually understand.

Dear

Dear Econ,
Hate you. Along with accounting.
Why must you be so...
~Frazzled student with test coming up

Dear Girl in Devotional,
You don't need to text during the prayer or laugh every three seconds.
Thanks.
~Trying to listen

Dear Sunshine,
Love you! I wish I could sit outside more.

Dear Person who will remain anonymous,
Clean up after yourself! This is getting out of hand.

Dear Friends,
Let's continue to hang out and have fun.
College is ending all too quickly.
It's spring time!

Parents

Meet the parents.
Can I just say I am so blessed.
My parents do everything to help me to be happy.
They take us on vacations to experience new things.
They provide for us and are very generous.
They love me.  Infinite love.
They make me laugh.
They encourage me.
It's funny how growing up changes things.
Parents aren't so annoying anymore. They become more of a friend.
I love my parents.
They have taught me and made me who I am today.
For that I am grateful.

Missing

Currently (lets be honest, this whole semester so far) I miss the friends I made last semester.
Sometimes I wish I could go back in the past.
But I only want the positives not the negatives.
I always make friends towards the end. The end of EFY, the end of semesters.
Then the time runs out.
The new semester won't ever be the same as the last one.
People move. School changes. People change.
But I do miss those special friends.

Goal

I Finally accomplished a goal of mine.
It was hard work and took a lot of time.
But...I did it!
Not a single B!
Healthcare Finance was the hardest to grasp
Accomplishing goals is extremely satisfying.
And sometimes, good things (blessings) do come out of hard times.

Application

Sometimes Mondays just aren't always the best.
I have class til 630.
Today I had an assignment due at 4. It was a challenge.
No sunshine and a long walk home in the rain and wind.
On the long walk back to campus, wanting to turn around and just stay inside.
A thought popped in my head.
Remember this?
I asked myself, How can today get any better than this?
I got to class and Brother Tolman brought us candy.
A small gesture, but it made my day better.
I love Reese's, it's basically the only candy I will eat.
At our FHE social we had pizza.
How can today get any better than this?

Addiction

Moriah got me hooked on this:
Dang it. Sometimes, school gets in the way.
Oh well.
Fact about me:
I love medical shows.
I remember watching Rescue 911 & Trauma: Life in the E.R. with my dad
ever since...I can remember.
Hence....Healthcare Administration
because I realized as I got older,
I couldn't handle seeing blood as well as I could in the past.

  • Take us to BWWS
  • Watch movies with us
  • They are the best cheerleaders to have at your game.

  • Kiss you on Valentine's day...a lot
  • Make us laugh, when we really needed it or just whenever
  • Throw spears
  • Come running when they see the purple laser
  • Follow the rules

      Time

      Time is a funny thing.
It goes by slow at times,
but when you look back, it has flown by.
Today I realized I am senior in college.
      What?!
I looked at my student report.
      There it was: Senior
Impossible. I just started college like...
      So many life lessons learned
      Knowledge accumulating
      Friendships made and some broken
      It has been a journey.
Some days great, others a challenge.
But one thing I have learned.
      You cant get time back.
      So don't waste it.

      Purple Laser

This may be one of my favorite events of the semester with these guys.
We obtained lasers from the lovely Duwayne.
A purple one and a red one.
We originally got them to mess with the guys.
      Then we developed a system.
Red=come over and hang out. Purple= food, come eat!
Well, I think they got tired of the red.
One night Valen bought pizza and got the 12 inch cinna stix.
We were already so full. Why not try the purple lasers.
I opened the door shined the light into their apartment for 1.5 seconds max.
I didn't think they had seen it.
I opened the door saying, "That would be funny if Derek was at the door."
Not even 30 seconds had passed.
Derek was at the door! I shrieked.
Then we hear yelling and Josh and Ryan run in.
No shoes, none of them took the time.
1 min later, this was the result.
#2 We made lots of spaghetti. You know how it is, end of semester.
      Should we invite the guys?
Ok. I shined the purple laser, it was daylight.
I didn't think they saw it.
I sent a facebook message to ryan.
      Purple laser.
      1 second, 5 seconds.
We hear yelling, they are running down the stairs, across the parking lot to our apt.
      No shoes.
Derek: "I woke up dreaming I saw the purple laser.  But I couldn't... because I was in my room"
Who knew 2 words could get such a reaction.
      Those boys are great.

      Friendships

Our Bishop shared this one sunday, I loved the message:

      It well may be
That we will never meet again
      In this lifetime
So let me say before we part
      So much of me
Is made from what I learned from you
      You'll be with me
Like a handprint on my heart
And now whatever way our stories end
I know you have re-written mine
      By being my friend...

A lot has changed this past semester.
It was a difficult semester, but looking back, I am glad things turned out the way they did.
Heavenly Father wanted me to grow.
I needed to become more reliant on him and read the scriptures more.
As Valerie said, "Sometimes a person needs to experience their own Gethsemane, in order to truly understand and appreciate the suffering the Lord Jesus Christ experienced through The Atonement."
I feel more closer to Christ.
I had to get out of comfort zone and meet new people and make new friendships.
I am so grateful for the friendships made this semester.
      Their righteous example.
      Their kindess and sweet personalities.
The fun spontaneous adventures we went on.
Lots of memories have been made this semester.
I am so thankful for the people that made this semester great.

      Try it!

Mary relayed this saying to me, that she got from her teacher.
      I love it.
How can today get any better than this?
If you go throughout your day and ask yourself this question repeatedly
Wait and see the blessings that the Lord sends your way.
We tried it today, its quite amazing.

      Try it.
Let me know what happens :)

      Oops

Do you ever have those moments where you can't believe how dumb you were?
      Yeah, Prime example tonight.
Mary and I keep shaking our heads in disgust at ourselves. Haha.
Life is interesting to say the least.
But, you can't let dumb mistakes take over.
You just shake your head, learn from it, and move on.
